Seasonal tension final straw for many, claims family law expert
A miserable Christmas break after a bad 2014 will see couples heading to the solicitors to seek divorces, claims Coalville’s leading law firm.
Kathryn Hicklin, a family law expert, at QualitySolicitors Mander Cruickshank said that often the festive season is the final straw in unstable relationships.
“Christmas sadly is a time that brings problems into the spotlight,” she said. “It is the time of the year when a secret affair becomes harder to cover because of family commitments, and also a time when disenchanted couples reflect and some decide they want a new life.”
“When you add in drink fuelled rows and financial worries due to the commercial cost, it demonstrates why the early part of a New Year is a busy one for family lawyers,” she added.
She said the tales of painful Christmases are often cited when divorce cases get underway.
“When we talk to those who wish to separate we hear tales where couples do their best for the sake of the family to create the best Christmas possible, but this becomes hopeless,” she said. “Families spend more time together at this time of year and if there are tensions it can make for an extremely unpleasant situation.”
She added that QualitySolicitors Mander Cruickshank is well placed to help due to their experience in the area and ability to treat each case on its own merits.
“Going through a marriage break up is difficult, which sometimes gets worse before it can get better,” she said.
“However, what all our clients share is that they are going through one of the toughest times of their lives and we take this into consideration, so we can offer the required level of support through this time of change,” she added.
