What is Legal Aid?
Legal aid is publicly funded provision of legal fees. The Legal Aid Agency regulates who is eligible to receive legal aid and stipulates which firms are able to carry out specific services.
There are various eligibility requirements that must be met in order to be granted legal aid. These requirements differ depending on the type of case and your own personal circumstances. Some cases are only assessed on merit, other cases are assessed on merit and means – meaning the Legal Aid Agency will consider your financial circumstances in addition to the facts of the individual case.
Can I get Legal Aid?
Mander Cruickshank Solicitors can assess whether you are eligible for legal aid, and this is done entirely free of charge. If you are ineligible for legal aid, we will tell you why, and will provide you with a quote to undertake the work on a private paying basis.
