100 Years, 100 Good Deeds: Giving Back to our Community
Introduced to celebrate the milestone of beginning our 100th year this month (August 2023), the campaign will see staff members at Mander Cruickshank carrying out a series of good deeds locally.
In the coming months, the good deeds will be added to our website and social media channels to highlight some of the amazing good deeds that have been carried out.

In support of the local LGBTQ community, the team held a ‘Proud to support Pride’ day. Where they decorated the office and baked goodies for clients to enjoy.
Volunteers from our care and family team had a fun time getting their hands dirty last week at Redgate Farm Animal Sanctuary.

Rebecca Chilton crocheted over 100 baby bonnets to donate to ‘Cosy Clothes for Tiny Miracles’ Paul Tubb donated family board games and puzzles to a local charity, ensuring they find new homes.
Frankie Harwood completed the gruelling Wolf Run in support of Parkinsons UK. Sue Pendleton collected all her empty toothpaste tubes over a couple of months to donate the the local Boots store for recycling. Stephanie Sampson participated in a Charity tandem skydive in support of Alzheimer’s UK.
Lou Pell and Ria Carpenter organised a Quiz Night in support of Lou’s Wing walking challenge for the MND Association. In total they raised £300. In support of Against Breast Cancer, our staff have been collecting postage stamps. Learn more about the donation here During our last quiz night, Ria and Lou held a competition to guess how many aeroplanes were in the Jar. All the proceeds got donated to the MND Association

Kathryn Hicklin raised £,1000 for the British Heart Foundation by walking 100 miles in the month of August 2023. Well done Kathryn! Emily Stewart raised £116.30 for Macmillan Cancer Support by holding a Macmillan Coffee and Cake morning in September 2023. Thank you Emily. Francesca Harwood spent a morning with students at Ivanhoe School helping them learn new skills for the workplace. Rebecca Chilton raised £38.13 for the Alzheimers Society by making “Forget me Not” sweetie treats and fridge magnets. Well done Rebecca! Many of the team donned pink ‘glad rags’ in the Coalville office on Friday 20th October and raised £47.15 for Cancer Research. A raffle was held to raise money for Breast Cancer Now on 7th November raising £86 with an extra £18.60 commission from selling products.
Milly Dunne donated pre-owned books to a local telephone box library. For the ‘Pride to support Pride day’, the team baked a selection of goodies for clients. All donations went to a local LGBTQ charity. The team collected all pre-owned glasses cases to be donated to the local British Heart Foundation. Ria Carpenter participated in a Chairty tandem skydive in support of Alzheimer’s UK. Lucy Mansfield volunteered at Redgate Animal Sanctuary for the day. Bethany Haywood completed the muddy Wolf Run in aid of Parkinsons UK.
Members of our family & care team took part in a charity quiz night organised by CAFCASS to raise money for children’s charity ‘Wishes 4 Kids’. The event helped to raise approximately £1500. A great evening had to raise money for a great cause and the team gained 2nd prize in the quiz too!
Rebecca Chilton made Halloween Trick or Treat pumpkins full of milk chocolate treats to raise £32 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Kathryn Hicklin sorted through some nearly new and still nice clothes and donated them to the British Heart Foundation shop. Ria Carpenter organised a Children in Need PJ Day to raise money for the 2023 Children in Need Appeal. She raised £41.91. Well done Ria! Paul Tubb sourced 100 new and nearly new children’s books and donated them to TBA for them to sell and raise much needed funds. Georgii and Beth swam 100 miles between them to raise money for Diabetes UK. They raised £285. Well done Georgii and Beth A collection of non-perishable food items was taken down to Feed the Need Coalville who are an independent food bank on High Street in Coalville.
Bethany Bradford spent the day volunteering at the Redgate Animal Sanctuary. Stephanie Sampson crawled through mud to complete the Wolf Run in support of Parkinsons UK. Bex Gadsby participated in a Charity tandem skydive in support of Alzheimers UK. Milly Dunne completed the British Heart Foundation Pier to Pier swim in Bournemouth. The team raised a total of £1,200. Adam Watson completed the grueling Wolf Run in support of Parkinsons UK.
Sue Pendleton donated 8 inches of her hair to The Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children with cancer. Thank you to Shanie Adkin from Adley Hair Design.
Yvonne and other members of Marlborough Square Methodist Church attended the Rowans Care Home to have a sing song and chat with the residents. Yasmeen donated 20 Christmas presents to residents at The Leicester Royal Infirmary. These included biscuits, chocolates and care packages. Members of staff supported the Marlene Reid Christmas Toy Appeal and donated new toys so that every child wakes up to a present on Christmas Day. Our Centenary Christmas Jumper Day raised money in aid of Save the Children. Thank you to all the staff who took part and donated. Several of our team organised another collection of non-perishable food items which were taken down to Feed the Need, High Street, Coalville. Sharon Gray organised another collection of non-perishable food items which were taken down to Feed the Need, High Street, Coalville. The team collected their old glasses to donate to the local Specsavers branch for recycling. Yvonne, Amy, Emily and Kathryn spent their lunchtime picking up litter on Berrisford Street and Belvoir Road making the local area clean and tidy.
Emma Hall completed the muddy course of the Wolf Run in support of Parkinsons UK. Lisa donated some of her blood and has arranged for a sample to be tested for suitability to donate platelets on future occasions.
Yvonne and her family participated in the ‘Freeze your bits off’ Charity walk in Bradgate park in January.
Georgii Goodenough organised and donated Christmas decorations to Ashby School to use over the festive period. Yasmeen and Emily spent their morning at a careers fair hosted by Newbridge School, chatting with the students. Emily, Stephanie and Bethany volunteered at Ashby School to support students in improving their interviewing skills. Kathryn Hicklin had a declutter of unused children’s toys and clothes and donated those to a local Barnardo’s donation centre. For Easter, Rebecca Chilton created a gift basket full of goodies for the children at Belvoirdale Primary School. On Good Friday, Lisa Mason donated platelets at her local hospital to help those recovering from surgery and to help people undergoing cancer treatments. Jusleen Arora donated £25 towards the One Roof Charity Swimathon, who completed 139 lengths on Sunday 17th of March. Jusleen & Lucy attended the Hinckley Hub to donate refuge starter packages for women/children fleeing domestic abuse. Our Kathryn Hicklin had a declutter at home and donated unwanted clothes and toys to the Marlene Reid centre.
Our firm ‘Made it Blue’ for World Parkinson’s Day. Thank you to all the staff for the donations and taking part.
Members of staff have brought in old and broken pairs of glasses and cases, to donate to our local Specsavers. Milly volunteered for the day at Lonsdale Mews care home, serving lunch and keeping the residents company at Christmas. To prevent bras from going to the land fill, staff have donated their unwanted bras to the charity ‘Against Breast Cancer’. Who reuse, dismantle or recycle any unwanted bras. Members of Team MC spent a morning at Redgate Animal Sanctuary in Markfield helping to care for the animals and cleaning out their enclosures. Rebecca Chilton crocheted hats, booties and small clothes for the premature babies. They have been donated to the ‘Cosy Clothes for Tiny Miracles’.
Yvonne and her Dad, visited The Rowans with members of the local church, for an afternoon of singing, prayers and reading. Rebecca Chilton made some beautiful crochet poppies to raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal – and made £32. Very well done! Some of our Staff attended a local care home to have a festive carol sing song and a nice chat to boost their spirits!
